## Thoughts on How Literature Benefits Readers, the Nation, and Humanity – No.01

Literature that benefits literature will surely win the "Mao Dun Literature Prize".

No one does anything without a profit motive—not even God can change human nature. To sustain humanity, God had to first grant joy to parents. Similarly, before literature thinks about benefiting people, it must first consider how to bring fame and profit to publishers. That is why the "Mao Dun Literature Prize" was established.

Literature must benefit itself before it can benefit others. The harsh truth is that bookstores filled with world classics are often deserted, never as bustling as a vegetable market. This shows that world classics are even less valued than radishes and cabbages. It is a warning that literature will perish if it does not change. This is why I take benefiting people as the top goal of literature: this transformation is **beneficial literature**.

Literature that benefits literature will surely win the "Mao Dun Literature Prize". It is like endowing Yang Guifei with the martial prowess of Fan Lihua, turning a consumer product into a god of war that defends the nation. Transforming an imperial concubine into a pillar of the nation serves the country and represents a profound elevation.

Making literature benefit people not only elevates its own taste but also renders AI unable to replace literature. AI excels at knowledge searching, gathering, organizing, and extracting key points—all instrumental labor, the work of an assistant. Literature, however, is a creative product. Benefiting humanity requires innovation, which AI does not yet possess.

Making literature benefit all living beings is not original creation; I learned this from Buddhism. Buddhism requires Bodhisattvas to not only liberate themselves but also others, to benefit both themselves and others. This is called the **Precept of Benefiting Sentient Beings**, elevated to the level of discipline. In secular terms, a Bodhisattva who fails to benefit others is breaking the law. This is why I created **"Bodhisattva Literature"**, which aims to benefit people.

The core of "Bodhisattva Literature" is to benefit all living beings.

Thus, my reflections are:

- How can literature benefit every reader?

- How can literature benefit the motherland?

- How can literature benefit the Chinese nation?

- How can literature benefit all humanity?

Breaking it down further, a series of questions emerge:

How can literature benefit education? How can it help develop advanced culture? How can it contribute to the progress of human civilization? How can it boost tourism and the economy? How can it benefit one’s hometown? How can it benefit a particular enterprise?

Naturally, the question also arises: **How can literature benefit literature itself?**

Thinking leads to answers. Whether this is good or not, I present it for everyone to judge.

So, how exactly can literature benefit literature?

To be continued.
