 What Is Culture? | Culture

Culture is a set of ideas, a combination of worldviews, values and outlooks on life manifested in all aspects of work and daily life. Its essence lies in distinguishing truth from falsehood, beauty from ugliness, and good from evil. There are three levels of culture. The primary level is about survival. It abides by the law of the jungle and embodies animalistic instincts. Its typical trait is the pursuit of being superior to others — might makes right, justice is discarded, civilization is nowhere to be found, and truth is measured only by the range of cannons. The intermediate level of culture focuses on governance. It aims solely at maintaining social stability, with morality as its highest principle. It embodies human nature, marked by benevolence and love. To be a man of virtue and become a noble spirit is its ultimate ideal. The advanced level of culture is about exploration — encompassing religion, science and philosophy. It centers on wisdom and focuses on exploring the mysteries of the universe and human life. Its pinnacle lies in the philosophical conundrums — the "Three Ultimate Questions of Humanity". That is what constitutes the most advanced culture in the world. Culture is the soul of a nation. The greatness of a nation lies only in the advancement of its culture. Literature is the crystallization of culture. The greatness of literature also lies in the advancement of its cultural roots.
