# What is Literature? – My View on Literature

What is literature?

Literature is the study of culture and civilization.

Literature is the crystallization of culture, while culture is the foundation of literature; literature is the brilliance of civilization, and civilization is the fruit of literature.

Literature that encompasses culture and civilization in full is "complete literature".

Literature can be like "plucking a flower" – capturing the most beautiful fragment of life, or it can be like a "complete plant" with the root of culture, the flower of literature, and the fruit of civilization.

Though the plucked flower is beautiful, it lacks depth and endurance, so it is only suitable for concise, fast-paced short and medium-length works. For profound full-length works that reflect the great achievements of a nation and country, the "complete plant" – with the root of culture, the flower of literature, and the fruit of civilization – is far more appropriate.
